After a 6 year break it’s back! From the 19 – 23 February 2024 the R + T trade fair in Stuttgart opened its doors to over 61,000 visitors to showcase the latest in roller shutters, doors/gates and sun shading systems and it did not disappoint!
Organized by Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH, the event provided a unique place for exhibitors to showcase their new products and demonstrate innovative concepts, as well as developing new business relationships or catching up with familiar faces.
Our Automation Engineering Manager and I were lucky enough to attend this years’ event, albeit on a whistle stop tour, so I thought it would be great to put ‘pen to paper’ to outline some of the key trends and innovations that we saw. The motto of the 2024 event was “Create. Sustainable. Future. Together” so sustainability was front and centre of many of the innovative and leading-edge new solutions that were featured by the 1000+ exhibitors. Ranging from roller doors made of recycled material to energy efficient home automation solutions, it was noticeable that the entire industry is pulling together to jointly look to the future, especially in the Doors and Gates Sector.
In addition to sustainability, the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT), especially for access control and gate automation was prevalent. Ranging from Bluetooth access control to cloud based security solutions, the art of the possible was demonstrated by a vast number of exhibitors. New motor technologies, vertical lifting gates and intelligent blind and awning solutions were fascinating to see in action and really highlighted the concept of using internet connectivity to enable remote monitoring, control, and management of many solutions.
It was great to meet with existing and new potential suppliers too including Roger Technology, Locinox, Nice and Avantgates. As we left the event after a very long and busy day, could it be that the future is finally here? Thanks R+T for a brilliant event and see you in 2027!
